Trail Update – OPENING FRIDAY – JANUARY 2, 2026

We have made the decision to open the snowmobile trails on Friday, January 2 at 8am.

  • Please stay off the trails until Friday.
Club members will be out tomorrow doing final cleanup and prep, and we need them to be safe while completing this work.

  • Early season riding conditions will exist.
Some areas have very little snow, with ruts and rocks still exposed. Expect muddy and soft spots, especially in low-lying and swampy areas. Ride with caution and adjust your speed accordingly.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We’re looking forward to a safe and enjoyable season — ride right & ride safe!

Trails are closing Monday, February 24 @ 8AM

We are sad to report that our season is nearing the end. Due to the forecast of some warm weather, Oconto County will be closing their trails as of 8am Monday morning (Feb 24).

There are some pockets of decent snow depth and it is mixed with areas of little to no snow.  So conditions are marginal overall.

Still time to get in a ride and support our local business boosters.  So stay safe and ride right!

Trail Report 2/17/2025

It’s cold out there today! This cold weather helped the trails come together and as a result we have a flat solid base over the wider trails.  Where the trails are more narrow the snow is quite thin.

Fingers crossed we can get some more snow before it warms up and starts to melt.

Trails are opening!

Trails will open for Oconto County as of 6am on Sunday, February 9.

Please be aware we had high winds on Thursday that may have caused some trees and branches to fall and the all this snow fell right behind the high winds.  It did not give us much time to make sure all the branches were cleaned up before the snow came.   We are grooming today and will be out again tomorrow morning right away.

We have early season conditions meaning there are going to be some thin spots and could be icy under the new snow fall.

Watch for our groomers as they will be sharing the trails with our  riders trying to get the trails in the best condition possible.  Pay attention as we may have riders who find fallen tress or things that need to be cleaned up and trying to help – don’t run them over!  And as always ride your side and be safe!

Enjoy the ride!

All Oconto County Snowmobile Trails Close on Sunday, March 19th at 11:59 PM.

Wednesday, March 14, 2023

It is 42 degrees in Lakewood at 5:30pm. The 5-8 inches of good grooming snow we received on Sunday thru Monday really made our trails nice, and the groomers have been out to keep them that way up. You would not think that you were riding in mid-March. The cold temperatures at night have helped, as well. However, any areas exposed to the direct angle of the sun continues to disappear again more quickly. The NST (Grade) is slowly deteriorating again, especially north of town. The same applies to the trails along the roads. Regardless, we rate our trails to be Fair to Very Good. There is some rain in the forecast over the next day or so, but then the forecast is for some more snow in the 1-3 inch range.  Come on up for some good riding before Mother Nature changes her mind.

Wednesday, March 8, 2023

It’s 34 degrees in Lakewood at 7:30pm. The 8 inches of heavy wet snow we received on Monday was just what was needed to extend our trails for another week. Riding in the woods is still very nice, and those trails are standing up very well. However, any areas exposed to the direct angle of the sun will continue to disappear more quickly the farther into March we get. The NST (Grade) is slowly deteriorating in areas that are wooded, but areas in direct sun, it is melting down more quickly. The same applies to the trails along the roads.

The good news is that there is 1 to 3 inches of snow being predicted for tomorrow night. Regardless, the end is growing near, so if you want to get in your last ride, come on up and bring the sunscreen. Sunday, March 5, 2023

It’s 40 degrees in Lakewood with full sun at 10:30am. The snow we have received these past few weeks is still holding up pretty good in the woods, and we have been doing selective grooming to keep it that way. However, any areas exposed to the sun continue to slowly disappear. Regardless, we still rate our trails to be in the range of Fair to Very Good. There is still some good riding out there.

The good news is that we are currently under a Winter Weather Advisory calling for 4 to 6 inches from Midnight on Monday to Monday at 6:00 PM. Is it possible that we can ride for another week or two? You can also get trail information for other trails in Oconto County by clicking on https://www.ocontocounty.org/trail-reports/
